Finite element analysis of stress concentrations and failure criteria in composite plates with circular holes

摘要:

In this study, the stress concentration factors (SCF) in cross-and-angle-ply laminated composite plates as well as in isotropic plates with single circular holes subjected to uniaxial loading is studied. A quadrilateral finite element of four-node with 32 degrees of freedom at each node, previously developed for the bending and mechanical buckling of laminated composite plates, is used to evaluate the stress distribution in laminated composite plates with central circular holes. Based up on the classical plate theory, the present finite element is a combination of a linear isoparametric membrane element and a high precision rectangular Hermitian element. The numerical results obtained by the present element compare favorably with those obtained by the analytic approaches published in literature. It is observed that the obtained results are very close to the reference results, which demonstrates the accuracy of the present element. Additionally, to determine the first ply failure (FPF) of laminated plate, several failure criterions are employed. Finally, to show the effect of ratio on the failure of plates, a number of figures are given for different fiber orientation angles.

Singularity loci of an orthogonal spherical two-degree-of-freedom parallel mechanism

摘要: Singularity analysis plays an important role in the design of robots, especially for parallel robots. In this paper, the direct and inverse kinematics of an orthogonal spherical two-degree-of-freedom parallel mechanism is proposed based on the modified Euler angles. All the singular poses of the mechanism are achieved through the direct kinematic analysis. Self-motions, which are different from the general spherical 5 parallel mechanisms, are also discussed. Singularity loci in the joint space and Cartesian space are plotted according to the Jacobin of the mechanism. Result shows that the singularity loci at the joint space are two circles and one line, whereas at the Cartesian space are a circle.

Deformable image registration with geometric changes

摘要: Geometric changes present a number of difficulties in deformable image registration. In this paper, we propose aglobal deformation framework to model geometric changes whilst promoting a smooth transformation between source and target images. To achieve this, we have developed an innovative model which significantly reduces the side effects of geometric changes in image registration, and thus improves the registration accuracy. Our key contribution is the introduction of a sparsity-inducing norm, which is typically L1 norm regularization targeting regions where geometric changes occur. This preserves the smoothness of global transformation by eliminating local transformation under different conditions. Numerical solutions are discussed and analyzed to guarantee the stability and fast convergence of our algorithm. To demonstrate the effectiveness and utility of this method, we evaluate it on both synthetic data and real data from traumatic brain injury (TBI). We show that the transformation estimated from our model is able to reconstruct the target image with lower instances of error than a standard elastic registration model.

Influence of kinematic redundancy on the singularity-free workspace of parallel kinematic machines

In this paper the effect of kinematic redundancy in order to reduce the singularity loci of the direct kinematics and to increase the operational, i.e., singularity-free, workspace is demonstrated. The proposed approach consists of additional prismatic actuators allowing one or more base joints to move linearly. As a result, a selective reconfiguration can be performed in order to avoid singular configurations. Exemplarily, kinematically redundant schemes of four structures, the 3RRR, the 3RPR, the 6UPS, and the 6RUS, are considered. The relationship between the redundancy and the operational workspace is studied and several analysis examples demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed concept. Furthermore, the additional benefit of an increasing number of redundant actuators is discussed.

Probabilistic analysis of secant piles with random geometric imperfections

摘要: The failure to achieve minimum design overlap between secant piles compromises the ability of a structure to perform as designed, resulting in water leakage or even ground collapse. To establish a more realistic simulation and provide guidelines for designing a safe and cost-effective secant-pile wall, a three-dimensional model of a secant pile, considering the geometric imperfections of the diameter and direction of the borehole, is introduced. An ultrasonic cross-hole test was performed during the construction of secant piles in a launching shaft in Beijing, China. Based on the test results, the statistical characteristics of the pile diameters and orientation parameters were obtained. By taking the pile diameter D, inclination angle β, and azimuth angle α as random variables, Monte Carlo simulations were performed to discuss the influence of different design parameters on the probability density functions of the overlap of secant piles. The obtained results show that the randomness of the inclination angle and pile diameter can be well described by a normal distribution, whereas the azimuth angle is more consistent with a uniform distribution. The integrity of the secant-pile wall can be overestimated without considering the uncertainty of geometric imperfections. The failure of the secant-pile wall increases substantially with increasing spatial variability in drilling inclination and diameter. A design flowchart for pile spacing under the target safety level is proposed to help engineers design a safe and economical pile wall.

Zinc modification of Ni-Ti as efficient NiZnTi catalysts with both geometric and electronic improvements

摘要: The catalytic hydrogenation of nitroaromatics is an environmentally friendly technology for aniline production, and it is crucial to develop noble-metal-free catalysts that can achieve chemoselective hydrogenation of nitroaromatics under mild reaction conditions. In this work, zinc-modified Ni-Ti catalysts (NixZnyTi1) were fabricated and applied for the hydrogenation of nitroaromatics hydrogenation. It was found that the introduction of zinc effectively increases the surface Ni density, enhances the electronic effect, and improves the interaction between Ni and TiO2, resulting in smaller Ni particle size, more oxygen vacancies, higher dispersion and greater concentration of Ni on the catalyst surface. Furthermore, the electron-rich Niδ obtained by electron transfer from Zn and Ti to Ni effectively adsorbs and dissociates hydrogen. The results reveal that NixZnyTi1 (Ni0.5Zn0.5Ti1) shows excellent catalytic performance under mild conditions (70 °C and 6 bar). These findings provide a rational strategy for the development of highly active non-noble-metal hydrogenation catalysts.

环境一号卫星A/B星数据自动几何精校正设计研究

摘要:

环境一号卫星A/B星是我国自主研制的小卫星星座,其在轨稳定运行近5年,并稳定获取了大量高质量的观测数据,实现对这些观测数据的几何精校正处理,对发挥环境星宏观、动态的生态环境监测有着重要意义。本文首先分析了环境一号卫星参数特点以及环境一号卫星2级数据(系统几何校正后的数据)的几何特点。基于此,设计了环境一号卫星各载荷总体几何精校正方法流程以及charge-coupleddevice(CCD)相机自动几何精校正方法。实际运行数据表明,该方法可以较好地实现环境一号卫星各载荷数据的自动几何精校正,环境一号卫星CCD相机自动几何精校正图像精度可达到2个像素以内,同星不同载荷图像之间自动匹配方法可以获取小于1个像素的图像匹配精度。

Isogeometric analysis based on geometric reconstruction models

摘要: In isogeometric analysis (IGA), the boundary representation of computer-aided design (CAD) and the tensor-product non-uniform rational B-spline structure make the analysis of three-dimensional (3D) problems with irregular geometries difficult. In this paper, an IGA method for complex models is presented by reconstructing analysis-suitable models. The CAD model is represented by boundary polygons or point cloud and is embedded into a regular background grid, and a model reconstruction method is proposed to obtain the level set function of the approximate model, which can be directly used in IGA. Three 3D examples are used to test the proposed method, and the results demonstrate that the proposed method can deal with complex engineering parts reconstructed by boundary polygons or point clouds.

Implementation of sinh method in integration space for boundary integrals with near singularity in potential

As a widely used numerical method, boundary element method (BEM) is efficient for computer aided engineering (CAE). However, boundary integrals with near singularity need to be calculated accurately and efficiently to implement BEM for CAE analysis on thin bodies successfully. In this paper, the distance in the denominator of the fundamental solution is first designed as an equivalent form using approximate expansion and the original sinh method can be revised into a new form considering the minimum distance and the approximate expansion. Second, the acquisition of the projection point by Newton-Raphson method is introduced. We acquire the nearest point between the source point and element edge by solving a cubic equation if the location of the projection point is outside the element, where boundary integrals with near singularity appear. Finally, the subtriangles of the local coordinate space are mapped into the integration space and the sinh method is applied in the integration space. The revised sinh method can be directly performed in the integration element. A verification test of our method is proposed. Results demonstrate that our method is effective for regularizing the boundary integrals with near singularity.

Effects of critical geometric parameters on the optical performance of a conical cavity receiver

摘要: The optical performance of a receiver has a great influence on the efficiency and stability of a solar thermal power system. Most of the literature focuses on the optical performance of receivers with different geometric shapes, but less research is conducted on the effects of critical geometric parameters. In this paper, the commercial software TracePro was used to investigate the effects of some factors on a conical cavity receiver, such as the conical angle, the number of loops of the helical tube, and the distance between the focal point of the collector and the aperture. These factors affect the optical efficiency, the maximum heat flux density, and the light distribution in the conical cavity. The optical performance of the conical receiver was studied and analyzed using the Monte Carlo ray tracing method. To make a reliable simulation, the helical tube was attached to the inner wall of the cavity in the proposed model. The results showed that the amount of light rays reaching the helical tube increases with the increasing of the conical angle, while the optical efficiency decreases and the maximum heat flux density increases. The increase in the number of loops contributed to an increase in the optical efficiency and a uniform light distribution. The conical cavity receiver had an optimal optical performance when the focal point of the collector was near the aperture.

低频振荡是影响电力系统稳定运行的一个重要方面。阐述了低频振荡产生的机理和分析方法,利用Hopf分歧理论,针对一个四阶模型的单机无穷大系统,分析了在临界点附近时可能出现的非线性奇异现象。研究表明:由于分歧的存在,导致系统稳定性在临界点附近出现奇异,从而影响了电力系统的稳定域。

Mechanical and geometric advantages in compliant mechanism optimization

摘要: This paper presents a focused examination of the mechanical and geometric advantages in compliant mechanisms and their ramifications in the design formulations of compliant mechanisms posed as a topology optimization problem. With a linear elastic structural analysis, we quantify mechanical (and geometric) advantage in terms of the stiffness elements of the mechanism's structure. We then analyze the common formulations of compliant mechanism optimization and the role of the external springs added in the formulations. It is shown that the common formulations using mechanical (or geometric) advantage would directly emulate at best a rigid-body linkage to the true optimum design. As a result, the topology optimization generates point flexures in the resulting optimal mechanisms. A case study is investigated to demonstrate the resulting trends in the current formulations.

Kinematic, workspace and singularity analysis of a new parallel robot used in minimally invasive surgery

In the last ten years, due to development in robotic assisted surgery, the minimally invasive surgery has greatly changed. Until now, the vast majority of robots used in surgery, have serial structures. Due to the orientation parallel module, the structure is able to reduce the pressure exerted on the entrance point in the patient’s abdominal wall. The parallel robot can also handle both a laparoscope as well an active instrument for different surgical procedures. The advantage of this parallel structure is that the geometric model has been obtained through an analytical approach. The kinematic modelling of a new parallel architecture, the inverse and direct geometric model and the inverse and direct kinematic models for velocities and accelerations are being determined. The paper will demonstrate that with this parallel structure, one can obtain the necessary workspace required for a minimally invasive operation. The robot workspace was generated using the inverse geometric model. An in-depth study of different types of singularity is performed, allowing the development of safe control algorithms of the experimental model. Some kinematic simulation results and the experimental model of the robot are presented in the paper.

变电所供电半径的选择是一个复杂的问题。为了确定最佳供电半径,减少投资,降低损耗,建立了Fuzzy环境下的变电所供电半径选择的几何规划模型。它包括软约束问题和含Fuzzy系数的问题。通过数值实例的计算,验证所建立的模型,与静态和动态的优化数学模型如控制模型和经典几何规划模型相比较,包含更多的信息,且获得了更满意的结果。

Geometric optimization model for the solar cavity receiver with helical pipe at different solar radiation

摘要: In consideration of geometric parameters, several researches have already optimized the thermal efficiency of the cylindrical cavity receiver. However, most of the optimal results have been achieved at a fixed solar radiation. At different direct normal irradiance (DNI), any single optimal result may not be suitable enough for different regions over the world. This study constructed a 3-D numerical model of cylindrical cavity receiver with DNI variation. In the model of a cylindrical cavity receiver containing a helical pipe, the heat losses of the cavity and heat transfer of working medium were also taken into account. The simulation results show that for a particular DNI in the range of 400 W/m to 800 W/m , there exists a best design for achieving a highest thermal efficiency of the cavity receiver. Besides, for a receiver in constant geometric parameters, the total heat losses increases dramatically with the DNI increasing in that range, as well as the temperature of the working medium. The thermal efficiency presented a different variation tendency with the heat losses, which is 2.45% as a minimum decline. In summary, this paper proposed an optimization method in the form of a bunch of fitting curves which could be applied to receiver design in different DNI regions, with comparatively appropriate thermal performances.
